ABOUT US

The Under One Roof building was donated to the Board of Directors, in 1996, to provide a youth emergency shelter for abused and neglected children who had been removed from their homes.  Under One Roof is located at 107 McKinley Street in Eufaula, Oklahoma, at the site of a former nursing home.

After the youth emergency shelter was established, it became clear that it would be advantageous to the community if several key human service nonprofits were housed in the building – the idea being that a one-stop shop would provide those in the community with a single location to access multiple types of human and social services.  Additionally, pooling resources and offering affordable rent would provide cost savings to those financially challenged nonprofits housed there.  Thus, two years later, The Multi-Tenant Nonprofit concept was implemented and “Under One Roof” evolved as a true community driven project. Individual community groups stepped up, listened to their hearts and completed their chosen areas of our renovation project.

In 2020, 2nd Chances Thrift Shop began as a worthwhile place for people to donate their gently used household items, and clothing. The Thrift Shop also serves to help the clientele of our Tenant Partners and the public, to have access to these items at steeply discounted prices; things they may not otherwise have been able to afford.

Under One Roof is a nonprofit organization governed by a Board of Directors made up of representatives from many of the participating agencies housed in the building, as well as at-large community leaders.  Those agencies not represented on the Board are given access to a Tenant Committee to provide input and feedback regarding Under One Roof’s mission, projects, and other relevant issues.  Currently, we have a part time Executive Director, a part time Administrative Assistant  and a part time Maintenance Supervisor.  We are proud to have partnered with the AARP Foundation Senior Employment Training Program, who provide four part time positions to help manage and sort donations for the Thrift Shop, as well as staff the Thrift Shop
